Has anyone discussed what races the club will be doing next year as in which ones there will be a good attendance of MTC athletes, dont think it would be a bad idea if every one posted which races they were thinking of doing at least then the new members could get on board and join in along with the rest of us. At least then we could go arrive in numbers and hopefully Bully the opposition into submission fitted out like a flowing sea of Red and Black in our MTC Gear......HOO AHHH, GO ON MTC!!!!

JP, I might go for Athlone. Supposed to be great for a fast time. I hear there's a short cut on the run section......isn't that right?
Killian? Aidan? Am I right?

I reckon, as suggested by Brian at the AGM, to try to focus on TI scoring events and put a plan together to focus on an overall strategy. The aim being to get the club up the TI leader board. Let's not try to beat each other, let's try to beat everyone else

Alright Boycee
Get posting! The committee needs feedback, what race would you like to see a 'hoard' from MTC headin too ? ? ? ?
I'm hoping to do 4-5 events next year. Will aim for Joey Hannan in May, Sligo and Beast of the East in July, maybe Dublin in August and finish off supporting local events in Sept, namely Lough Key and Tri an Mhi (their debut race). The Lough Key race is fantastic, perfect setting for a race, and the Tri An Mhi crew often come over to Lilliput for the Open Water swims - I guess I'm asking folk to support local races!

Hi Jp,
Yes I also think it would be a good Idea for members to post races they are thinking of doing.I for one was the soul Representative for MTC in two races i did this year and I must say I felt "LONELY" .Its always nice to have fellow members to keep you company!. This year I'm thinking of doing Kilkee,Athlone,Kinsale,Mourne, and finally I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm signed up for Eireman full distance as well ! " I MUST BE MAD". I think Wexford looks like its going to be a great event and why not be part of the first ever long distance race held in Ireland !

Heya Sarah,i've signed up for Lisbon but might have to withdraw due to injury and do swim on a team instead, not sure if you would want to travel all the way to Portugal tough. Eireman are running an ironman event this year in wexford and you can enter teams of up to six people 2 swimmers 2 cyclest 2 runners,i think between the wheelers the tri club and the running club you could put some really good teams together, I know some really good runners that may be interested and with yourself and stephen on the bike anthony and maybe enda swim.......

Hi Guys,
there's definitely great enthusiasm yet again this/next year. In terms of event selection, might I suggest that the "committee" review the best Olympic/Sprint races with which to accumulate points (and Eire/Wexford man for the lunatics). So rather than everyone posting their preference for triathlons, maybe it might be better for the "committee" or a "committee" working group to figure out the races the club would like people to do in order of preference? Then maybe people can pick the triathlons they want to do with a mind to trying to participate in the triathlons that are highest up this "preferred" table? E.g. let's say the following triathlons will gain the most points in the order indicated ...
1. Dublin City 2. Hell of the West 3. Beast of the East 4. Mourne 5. Athy ...
So, in order to gain the club points, people would go for Dublin City rather than Mourne (assuming they're on around the same time). Of course, this is further complicated as the date of the Triathlons would need to be taken into account but I think that the "committee" could rank the events based on ranking points, date, geographical location, etc.

Mic - just to be picky, but there's been long distance and Ironman distance events in Ireland for an age, Ireman up North, Kenmare etc.

"Ronan", Your right...there is a lot of interest in agreeing on a club race this year. The committee already has it on our to do list to help the club pick one so watch this space! I would however point out that it's not all about points! the club race short list will be picked based primarily on quality of the race and the potential for making a bit of a weekend out of it for the club! Thanks to all for the suggestions of races and keep them coming. I'd be a big fan of doing one of the toughest olympic distances around (Connemmara tri) buts that's just me! "Brian I" """""""""
