Could I jump in and give my penny's worth . I dont cycle on a Sat or Sun (in fact I dont cycle at all!!!) so I cant comment on the cycle sessions. However I do intend to avail of the turbo/spin sessions, whether I attend the Mon, Tues or Wed sessions will depend on what best suits me (and family) respective of what club is hosting them (well done to all who have given time/energy in hosting them). I have the easy job if I can just turn up. Can I comment on the Sunday morning run in Belvedere. I have been running with Mullingar Harriers since I was U10 (I know what your thinking - she has'nt progressed much). Seriously though with the running the training days have always been Tuesday/Thursday and Sunday being the traditional long easy run. I think I could safely say that Sunday long run is tradition in any running club the length and breath of Ireland. Some MTC members are also Mgar Harrier members and I can see how the sat morning cycle and sun morning run have naturally evolved. I am a member of the MTC and Harriers and if I were to join the Wheelers I would miss out on the Sun spins as I would always keep sun as a long run. I have babbled on a bit but I suppose the point I am trying to make is what Brian has said that with the tri training you are trying to keep all three aspects going and it can be tricky and training will clash with other training. Reading the above posts there is obviously tension and hopefully it will be cleared at the Wheelers AGM. I just want to give my independent view. Paula

Hi Paula,
I don't thinks it tension, it's more of a shared passion on going forward as best we can with the respective committees of each club commited to the good of their fellow members.
It's great to see the message board being used like this!

As Brian said, it's not a question of tension between the 2 clubs and if you took this from anything I've said then apologies. My main point is that we should be using their expertise more. I'm talking only as an MTC member and none of the views above are from the wheelers.

hello all!
Being as you are all reading this I thought id just let you know we are doing a ladies only cycle on Sunday. At the moment there are 9 of us going so anyone else (that is if you are a lady!) that fancys coming along then please do! 9am at the dog track. If it works well then we may do run something similar again. Im sure the tri club like the wheelers has lots of very strong female athletes and our our plan is to help raise everyones standard together..
With regard to the clubs training together I think there is definate potential to help each other out. The odd training spin together / circuit training /marshalling races etc..
I better mention our turbo sessions which are on a Tuesday and Friday are not organised by the Wheelers! We just thought it was a good way to get a group of like minded people together on those miserable winter evenings! Also it certainly helps motivate Steven and I if we know people will be turning up.
Thanks Sarah

Total agreement with Doug, last nights turbo was excellent, great to have Caroline set the session and bring us through it - usually the mention of the word 'turbo' sends me to sleep, but I'll be looking forward to next weeks session. As for the stretches, Noeleen should give a master class, and the entire club should turn up for it, absolutely brilliant!
Thanks for the Powerade too - and to Doug, the bringer of Powerade and Opener of Windows!
Oh, thanks to Breda's legs too!

Hi Guys, a quick word on last nights sessions with Steve and Sarah ... and to let them know our appreciation for their sessions also We did a fitness test which required going as hard as you can for 4 minutes. Steve took readings from this and fed them into an equation to provide feedback on where you're at with regards power and fitness (needless to say your's truly was well behind!). Anyway, the idea is to check this measurement again in 3 ~ 4 weeks to see if there's any improvement and thereby validating (or not) your specific training regimes (as per recent training weekend with Padraig Marrey). I'm not sure if you guys are planning to incorporate this into your Monday night sessions but it seems a worthwhile exercise. Thanks, Ronan

Seems like it could be a good motivator too......... especially for those of us in the depths of unfitness!!

I was talking with Steve at the circuit training in the tennis club last night and he was saying that he'll be doing this again next Friday night (at 7 o'clock again, I think ... Steve/Sarah, can you confirm??) if anyone is interested. Be prepared to suffer, it's 4 minutes of hell but, surprisingly, the minutes fly by I suppose you should contact Steve/Sarah before then if you're interested.

I was talking with Steve at the circuit training in the tennis club last night... Ronan, is this a Wheelers session or can Triathletes attend the circuit training too? Can you provide details like start and finish time, cost, etc? Much appreciated.

I'm checking with Steve. Triathletes are definitely welcome but Steve is just confirming on the insurance details. There were triathletes last year as far as he knows. Other details as follows ... Time: 1900 to 2000 Day: Wednesday Venue: Tennis Club (near Xtravision for those of you that do not know) Gear: Running shoes + shorts/t-shirt/etc Cost: €50 Duration: I think it'll run until March/April Value for money: Great if you like pain Results: After the first few weeks training every so often I see a faint semblance of a 6 pack coming thru

Eh, probably a stupid question but I take it that due to severe frost alert tonight, there will be no cycling in the morning?

hmmm.... you'd be surprised who'll turn up. Depending on severity, it's sometimes okay on the long boring N4......... I'll leave it to your own judgement!
