Folk's got this e mail from ironman uk, News update from IRONMAN UK Dear Athlete
IRONMAN UK would like to thank you all for your patience in awaiting news of the 2009 IRONMAN UK. We would like to thank you for taking the time to sign up for the pre registration list, which gives you priority information and advance access to the online entry system, when it becomes available.
As most of you are no doubt aware, IRONMAN UK will not be returning to Sherborne Castle in 2009, however there will be definitely be an IRONMAN race in the UK in 2009.
At the moment IRONMAN UK is currently weighing up two potential venues, each with their own unique selling points and characteristics. Both will be in keeping with the sort of races IRONMAN UK has previously held, so those hoping for a pan flat course may be disappointed.
The event will return to its traditional date in August and will hopefully be greeted by glorious sunshine which is typical of the month in the UK!
In choosing these venues, we have taken onboard the feedback from the IRONMAN UK Feedback forms and the emails we receive in the office.
We are hoping to be in a position to announce the new venue within the next few weeks, so we thank you for bearing with us.
We are also giving our website a long overdue overhaul which will hopefully make it easier to navigate. There will also be a new online entry system which should speed up the entry process as well as being very user friendly.
This has contributed in the delay in launching the UK IRONMAN 70.3 although we can confirm that the UK IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon will be held on June 14th at Wimbleball Lake on the same course as in previous years. So get out and train those hills!!!
We will update you further in the near future, so please check the next email you receive from us, as it may contain some very important information!
Please note that we will be closing the Pre-registration list when it reaches 3000, so please advise your friends that if they are not in this list they may miss out on what is sure to be the most anticipated UK triathlon event of 2009!
Happy Training

IRONMAN UK 2009 Race Venue Dear Athlete
The IRONMAN UK Race Office has had a staggering response to the Pre-registration for the IRONMAN UK 2009. So far we have had over 4,000 athletes register their interest in the race. This exceeds the 3000 on the pre registration for the UK IRONMAN 70.3 which has seen over 1000 athletes enter so far. We will therefore be closing the pre-registration list for IRONMAN UK 2009 event on Friday 28th November at 5pm UK time. So you have until Friday to continue to add your contact details to the IRONMAN UK 2009 Pre-registration so that you are first to know the new venue and enter for the IRONMAN UK 2009.
IRONMAN UK has been working on the feedback received following last years race to ensure that the next IRONMAN UK in the new venue will be the best event yet and one that will offer a completely new IRONMAN experience to UK athletes. As I am sure you can appreciate it takes time to get all the pieces in the right places, tick all the right boxes and we appreciate your patience in this matter. The end result will be definitely worth it.
Whilst we have been asked to keep the venue private until the official launch by the new venue partner, we are sure that this will not stop the speculation. However IRONMAN UK will be unable to confirm any details until launch date. We would like to remind athletes that at present the race is still scheduled for the first two weeks of August.
IRONMAN UK is a small and dedicated team who have been working round the clock to ensure that IRONMAN UK is an event that will become the ‘must do’ event for all UK triathletes. We are planning on delivery the event that you have all been asking for...although there may still be a surprise or two in store!
We hope that you will share our passion and our vision and we look forward to seeing you at IRONMAN UK 2009 in .......!
