Hi there, on the hill climbs again. I have mapped out the SlieveBloom route we do (the cut and wolftrap) and overlaid it on top of the Bala cycle profile so I could see how our training compares to the terrain over there. I have also added the Nice profile ( :-) ) , sorry Dor and Gerry , and the Wicklow 200. I think it gives it a little perspective, maybe even a lot. You can view this at the link below (view on full screen, graph legend is on the right) .. Anyhow, I was thinking of having a go at the Wicklow 200 route in the near future. It is quite a challenge and would be good training. Note sure if anyone is interested but have a think about it. The real Wicklow 200 is on June 8th this year and we all know where we will be for that. www.philipjwade.com/myImages/Bike/Cycling_RouteProfiles.jpg

I'm not a big fan of the graph thing. They just seem to be used as a scare tactic. Its impressive alright the difference between courses but unless your comfortable interpreting graphs they can easily be misread. I say keep it simple... train on hills and just pedal up them. Same thing as pedalling on the flat but much more enjoyable - the bigger the better!
