;D
I was chattin with a few folk last wednesday about the swim start time for September. As the days are definitely gettin shorter and the light is against us, a change of time seems necessary. As of Wednesday next September 3rd, the session will start at 7.00pm. Many thanks to Shane and Vera for helping out last week, looking for new volunteers for next Wednesday please!
Not sure how much longer the lake swims will continue, it will depend on the weather, and the light. Last year, it was very much up to the individual to make their own choice on whether to swim or not, but for safety, I'd ask anyone going out, not to swim alone, or at least have a person on the bank!

Last night, the lake swim was at 7.00pm which seemed to work out very well with light availability and getting us all home at a good hour !
With that in mind, the Friday Lough Owell swim will also kick off at 7.00pm from here out.
One last thing, people are asking how long more the lake swims will keep going. Really, it's hard to say, it will depend on the weather, but the days are definitely getting more of a chill to their evenings, so it's not going to be too much longer. Watch this space is all I could say.

When people with wetsuits are complaining about the cold it's nearly time! Vera took the times so......You might have to hold on a little longer! on a side note, Met Gerry D for the first time last night! (Starting to get most peoples names now!) Good luck in the Ironman!

have to say, conditions were really nice. very calm and after you warmed up water temp was grand. According to 'Met Daly' we had a nice easterly which doesn't cause the lake to be too wild...its the westerly's you need to watch! Hats off to Mr. Doran who braved the consitions without a wetsuit (although he did ned some'encouragement' from us to actually get in the water)

I presume the swim is on in lough Ennell tonite? Also, I remember a certain chap telling me one time that he never lets the weather stop him training! So Brian (Boyle), has fatherhood made you soft ? Did you forget what dedication to training is? I hope you don't take that attitude into your comeback year, next year. If you do make the comeback next year, I hope it doesn't rain much!

Ronan Your right!
Must have another look at myself in the mirror and give myself a good talking to.... out of practice. The moving in date for the house is November 4th 2008 so training starts on november 5th (not sure if a swim in the lake will be my first session...... we'll see)
