Is there still an organised cycle on Saturday mornings at 8.30 from the Park Hotel for us folk who aren't quite made of iron?
Anybody meeting this weekend and if so how far do you intend on going?

I showed up just before 8.30am last Saturday at the Park Hotel, waited outside Mr Wong's for about 10 minutes and left on my own for a lonely, wet cycle....
I hear some cyclists had reached Enfield by that time, while others were already going up and down the Slieve Blooms at this stage. Those 7am starts are a bit too early for me. But I also heard a certain triathlete showed up at the Park Hotel, saw nobody and went home!!! Didn't even go for a cycle! I wont name and shame but tut tut!!
I'll be there again this Saturday morning as the thoughts of a 5 hour trip to the highest parts of Offaly and back don't really appeal to me (sorry Gerry).
Hope to do a resonable cycle (I'm supposed to be tapering for the marathon) so anything from 40 to 60k will suit.
Any takers?

JP, I'll be at the Park Hotel 8.30am tomorrow. No idea if other cyclists will be there or not, hopefully there will be.
If others do show I'll go with whatever cycle they have in mind.
If nobody else shows I'm going to head out the N4 to Kinnegad, exit there and head west for Tyrellspass along the old N6 then turn north for Mullingar along the N52. It's about 55k and at the moment it looks like the last section will be in to the wind.
As for a 'quick cycler' I don't think I fit the bill there...probably average about 26 - 28kph or something for the cycle. But, as I said, other cyclists may show on the day, which would help increase the pace.
