Hello all.
Looks like nobody is posting any messages this week so I thought I had better drum up something.
In order to clear out any intoxication from your blood cells from this coming weekends activities I am proposing a "run" out in Mullameen Woods on the weekend of 22 or 23 November.
I went out there last weekend for the first time and I was blown away by how brilliant a training location it offers. It is amazing!
Anyway I am looking to get a group of at least 5 or 6 or indeed the more the merrier as we can have different groups if people want to go at a pace similar to someone else.
Anyone interested either post here or call me on 087 622 11 44.
Cheers
Gerry D
(ps might even get a cup of tea in Chez Boyle after !!!)

Sounds good Gerry.
You running the 5 mile loop? I'd be up for 2 or 3 of those on the Sunday morning (cycle Saturday morning).

Yeah exactly what I had in mind. At least 2 maybe 3 of the 8.
It offers 3 loops of 1.5/ 5 or 8 km which is perfect.
Anybody else???

yeah, sounds like a good idea. I cannot make those dates either. But if you plan doing this on a Saturday regularly then I'd be interested (Sundays with the wheelers).

Sounds good Gerry. I would be interested in Sunday morning, 23rd, in place of run in Belvedere. Have never been out there so am looking forward to seeing what it's like. Heard it's a good spot. Paula.

HI Guys
Many thanks for feedback. Think sunday is prob the best option at this stage. Will confirm details early next week. Also spread the word. More the merrier.
Based on what people feel after this dummy run we can decide to do or no to do in the future. For those who have never seen it you are in for a treat (and a tough workout)

Hi all,
Well thank god some-one knows where Ballycomoyle is!
I did an 8km race out there a few months ago. There is no race like it! It sure is a fabulous location for training and i think it would be great to see a few of you come out regularly.
As i am sure you will thoroughly enjoy the training runs there, just pencil in a wee race there on new years day (might even be new years eve). will keep you posted
Now about the tea afterwards........... will keep you posted!

Hi All
The general consensus is too hold this "FUN RUN" (I promise) next SUNDAY MORNING. If you are interested in coming along (EVERYONE WELCOME), walkers, runners, hill walkers, dancers (SB!!)
However please let me know either on this post or email gerry@duffyproperties.ie if you are coming.
We are planning on having tea and scones afterwards (www.cookscones.com) so if we knew how many were coming that would be great. We have at least 7-8 who have told me they are coming so far but please do get in touch.
For those who have no idea how to get there the plan is to meet at the Car Park at the PARK HOTEL AT 0920 (beside the CHINESE).
Lastly in true Niall Mellon fashion as we are passing "CHATEAU BOYLE" on route (which is taking longer than both the Taj Mahal and the Mullingar Cathedral put together to construct)........ anyone with certificates/diplomas or degrees in carpentry/ plastering/ painting/ electrical or plumbing are asked to leave their running gear at home but to come along anyway where they will be dropped off en route and picked up an hour or so later !!!
Rain does not stop play !!!

A WORD OF THANKS
Just a word of thanks to all who dragged themselves of of bed at the unearthly LATE hour of 0920 this morning to come out to Mullameen.
In all we had 26 yes TWENTY SIX people there including 5 members of the 2024 Midland Tri committee (Eric Junior, Caitlin, Meaghan, Robyn and the local ...Ms Hannah B.) Special thanks also to Margaret who by all accounts is gone back to Ardara, Co Donegal to regale the locals of stories of all the mad lunatics down in Westmeath.
The Boyles are none to happy that no one as much as volunteered to do a spot of painting, plastering or snagging for them but nonetheless have promised to offer a sumptious feast if and when we decide to venture out to Ballycomoyle again.
By the sounds of things everyone is agreed it is a fantastic location. If the feedback is still postive when you wake up tomorrow morning let me know and we will do it all over again ( at least once before Xmas)
To the BAKERS Dor,Breda and Yvonne (hope thats right) ......... thanks for all your hard work !
Finally as soon as I stop laughing at the main photograph which ye all posed for I will post it on the board during the week. (Wait till you should see DOUG !!)
Thanks again
GD

Gerry thanks for organising session in Mullaghmeen. It was good fun (if you can call good fun nearly having to crawl up the goat trail on hands and knees cos it was too steep to run up!!!). It would be good to pencil M/meen into the calendar maybe once a month. p.s. Breda D Yvonne's home made carrot cake was lovely even though I know ur convinced you baked it

Well done Mr Duffy, for once you got it right. It was an excellent training venue, very scenic and as challenging as you wanted it to be. Got a lot of tips from the Mc Cabes (for running and life, thanks). Unfortunately there was a sourer moment, it was at the end when we were enjoying some post training treats, I had my eye on the last piece of carrot cake with icing on it, no one seemed interested, was sure I had it, up until savage jaws Mahon went to the back of the van. Is he a fully paid up member of the club? all joking a side who made the cake? Aidan.

Aidain, there are no prizes for 4th! You didn't earn that piece of cake. It was delicious.
Anyway your heart rate was too high. I was saving you from yourself!
Thanks Gerry for coming up with the idea - great fun. Aidain will bake a merangue for the next trip...' least he can do.
