Yom Kippur (Hebrew: éåÉí ëÄÌôÌåÌøý,), also known in English as the Day of Atonement, is the most solemn and important of the Jewish holidays. Its central themes are atonement and repentance. Jews traditionally observe this holy day with a 25-hour period of fasting and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in synagogue services. The upside to this , apart from atonement of course, is that they are not allowed use their cars and the roads are clear. An absolute cycling dream. Here are a few pics , i know a bit "Naomi/Aaron" centric but will give you a feel for what empty roads actually mean and look like www.philipjwade.com/photoarchive/yomkippur/index.html
