Hi folks,
I just like to say that I fulfilled my desire to once again visit the CUT. I owe a thank you to Nickki and Brigid for bringing me there – I don’t think I would have found it on my own. I think the Gods were smiling on us as we got one of the best mornings of the year. Nickki was saying that himself and doug went up in august and it was absolutely freezing and lashing rain. (You know what? I think we were meant to go!!)
As for the difficulty of the CUT – no problemo! no burst lungs or injured knees. We didn’t batter up it, sprint or otherwise try to injure ourselves. I felt very strong on the first go but as we set out for the second attempt I was betraying signs of fatigue. Nickki showed his experience here by getting me talking about a subject I like – Beckett (now before I am accused of being ‘gay’ or any cultural bullying takes place I will say that I am not going to write anything about Beckett!!) What Nickki did was get me talking and then kept disagreeing with me – the more he disagreed with me the more I talked in a vain attempt to prove my point. Before I knew it we were 500 yards from the top and he says ‘sure I’ll leave here now Eric and you can make your own way to the top’ and off he sped as if he had been walking! I couldn’t believe we were nearly at the top so quickly. So from now on Nickki is the Goban Saor (ask Brigid if you don’t know what it means).
Hope I didn’t cause too much confusion with the regular Saturday morning cycle ….i'll be there next weekend ....
Regards
Eric
