Hi all,
I think there is a 1500metre open water swim on this sunday at the diving board. This is organised by swim ireland. I did it a few years ago and it was great fun. The swim is basically from the diving board out to the island turn right for a bit a swim back to the diving board. All standards of swimmers take part.
A couple of things to remember; Its a handicapped event, but if you dont swim at these things regularly you get put off one of the last..... i dont think they like the newbies to win! You are not allowed to wear a wetsuit (well you can but you will be called a girl!) If you're interested, give Anthony Hughes a shout....... or ring me and I'll ring him a shout for full details (dont want to leave his number here without his permission).
Brian

Guys I'm talking about the OWEL swim (Trevor Winkworth one). Brian posted message that it was on last Sunday but someone said at Lilliput on Wednesday that it's on this Sunday. I'll try and make contact with Anthony Hughes and will post an update.
Have the Ennell Swim in diary for end of August and looking forward to same.

I spoke with Anthony Hughes today and the Lough Owel swim is on Sunday 10th August. Mens race starts at 3pm and womens race at 3.30pm. 1500m swim start/finish at diving board. As per Anthony you can wear a wetsuit but you will be put to the back of the field. To participate you must be a member of a swim club. Tri Ireland members are covered.
