Hi
Was chatting to Brian B last night and given the significant interest to appears to be in possible Ironman participation in 2009 we feel it is a good idea to meet up for a chat next week.
For those thinking of doing it it is very important to make your decision in the next few weeks as most of the European Events will be full over the next month or so. (IM Germany already full for 2009 and Austria expected to be full next week)
Suggest we meet up in Bloomfield House Hotel main bar (they have been very good to us this year) next thursday at 8pm.
ALL WELCOME !!!

Hi,
We have a core in Athlone of about 6/7 people interested in ironman Austria next year. I will run ur meeting by the lads to see if we can get there. We have figured that this one seems to be the easiest one (i know there is no such thing as an easy ironman). We would be very interested to hear ur thoughts next week. See u then if we can get there.

Hi Marc,
Austria the Easiest one?? - Love your positive attitude!
If you are interested in doing Austria, I'm not sure but I think it fills up very fast so you might have to be vigilant. It is on this Sunday and 2009 entries open the next day.... it might be a good idea to google some of the forums and see what they advise.
Good luck to Barry Lambe (former chairman of Midland Tri) who is taking part in Austria this weekend.
Hopefully see you in Mullingar. if not there will be a gang over at Triathlone..... I think Midland Tri will have a promotional stand somewhere.....(Conor/Killian?)
Regards Brian

What plans have ye made so far have you any Ironman courses picked etc? I know the Austria one will fill up very quick but we will have to be perpeared and I think we will should be ok. It would be nice if we all could get into the same Ironman. I will attend the meeting on thursday night. See you all at tri to beat cancer.

A huge congratulations to Barry Lambe who completed Ironman Austria in a blistering 10hrs 35mins and 42seconds. An incredible time.
For those of you who don't know Barry, he was a former chairman of Midland Triathlon Club in the early years who worked and lived in Tullamore and is the clubs first Ironman. He and his wife Pauline have moved back to their native Wexford recently, but for anyone who attends any road races or attend any cross country events will surely bump into them.
I think there is a gang of Midlandes planning IM Austria next year, and no doubt will want to talk to him.
Well done again Barry.
Brian
